DAN Gosling relished the chance to pit his wits against former team-mate Jack Wilshere before backing him to be part of England’s World Cup squad.

The Cherries ace went toe-to-toe in the middle of the park for 90 minutes against the England international during Cherries’ 2-1 success over the Gunners.

Following the battle, the midfielder also revealed Wilshere had shared a few jokes in the dressing room of his former club.

He told the Daily Echo: “I got to know him very well last season with how he plays. He has that low centre of gravity and can get away with a turn of pace as well.

“I really enjoyed the battle and we had a laugh and a joke in the dressing room after – he said I should have been sent off!

“He is a great lad and he still keeps in touch with quite a few of us. He enjoyed his time here and we enjoyed having him, it was nice to see him back.”

Asked whether Wilshere should be included Gareth Southgate’s squad for Russia, Gosling replied: “I personally think they should take him.

“Not many players have what he has. If he can stay fit and keep producing performances like that, he should have a great season.”
