BRAD Smith could be set for a spell on the sidelines after today being forced off during Australia's World Cup play-off clash with Syria.
The adaptable Cherries star went to ground just eight minutes into the fixture in Sydney, reportedly with a hip problem.
He was then replaced by Huddersfield's Aaron Mooy, with Australia 1-0 down at the time after Omar Al Somah's opener.
A couple of goals from the 37-year-old Tim Cahill – the second of which came in extra-time – saw the Socceroos progress at the expense of their 10-man opponents.
Australia now face the prospect of a clash with either United States, Honduras or Panama in the final qualifying round.
Meanwhile, Lys Mousset came off the bench to score for France Under-21s for the second game in succession.
Mousset drew his team level at 2-2 against Luxembourg in a European Championship qualifier, before Martin Terrier handed the French a late winner with his second of the game.
Striker Joe Quigley, currently on loan at League Two Newport, came on for the final six minutes of Ireland Under-21s' 4-0 win over Israel in Dublin, again a European Championship qualifier.
