STRAIGHT-talking Asmir Begovic believes honesty is the best policy for Cherries as they bid to put their difficult start to the campaign behind them.

The Dorset club have lost all four of their Premier League fixtures this season and are one of two sides – the other being Crystal Palace – yet to earn a point.

Following an uncharacteristically passive display at Arsenal last Saturday, boss Eddie Howe shouldered responsibility for his team's start and said he would not accept three of the four league performances.

And with Brighton the visitors to Vitality Stadium tomorrow (8pm), goalkeeper Begovic says individual, frank reflection can help Cherries get back on track.

The Bosnian, who made a string of fine saves against the Gunners, told the Daily Echo: "There is much more to come. We aren't playing anywhere near our best levels and we have to be honest with ourselves about our performances and turn it round.

"We are not clicking and I think everyone has to look at themselves first before anything else. It's a team game but as an individual you have to make sure you are doing the right things.

"We all need to do our jobs from an individual point of view and then we will come together as a team.

"To perform the way we did against Manchester City and then not back it up against Arsenal is difficult to take. We have not found our consistency levels and we need to very soon.

"We don't want to be sitting here with zero points after four games but we are and it's disappointing.

"If there is one positive, it's that it's the beginning of the season so maybe it's the right time to have a wake-up call as it's happened when we have plenty of time to sort it out."

Brighton are unbeaten in three games in all competitions having turned over visitors West Brom 3-1 last weekend, a result which followed a goal-less draw with Watford at Vicarage Road.

Prior to that, Chris Hughton's side had seen off Barnet in the Carabao Cup.

Begovic is keenly aware of the importance of the clash with promoted Albion, who finished second in last season's Championship standings.

The former Chelsea and Stoke star added: "Brighton is a huge game which we need to get points out of. We need to get our season on track.

"It is the sort of team we have to get a result against and after a difficult start, this game takes on more significance.

"We need to show character and bounce back, it's as simple as that.

"If we perform better, that will give us a better chance to get the points. We have to believe in ourselves and stay positive, and kick on from here."

Begovic will hope to earn his first domestic clean sheet of the season against Brighton. The 30-year-old recorded a shutout for Bosnia-Herzegovina in a World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar earlier this month.
