CHERRIES midfielder Dan Gosling insisted the time had come for Eddie Howe's men to "stand up and be counted".

Gosling was an unused substitute for Cherries' first two Premier League defeats against West Brom and Watford before starting the reverses against Manchester City and Arsenal.

Few players emerged with any credit from Saturday's 3-0 setback at the Emirates, a result which has placed extra emphasis on the visit of Brighton to Vitality Stadium on Friday.

“We need to bounce back,” said Gosling, in an interview with the club website.

“Brighton is coming up to a must-win game and we need to get our season up and running.

"We were unlucky against Manchester City, but we can’t keep saying that because, against Arsenal, we were nowhere near it.

“Every single man has to be better and stand up and be counted.”

The 27-year-old says Cherries must rediscover their attacking panache: “We have been working on a lot of attacking play and you could see a little bit of that. But we still need to do better in those areas.

"We have gone away from passing the ball and need to get back to that. That’s our trademark and what we do every day. We need to get back to that.”
