GOALKEEPER Adam Federici is set for knee surgery and could face another lengthy period on the sidelines.

The 32-year-old joined Nottingham Forest on loan on deadline day but then picked up an injury while on international duty with Australia.

In February, Federici saw his season ended when he went under the knife after damaging cartilage in the same knee.

And Cherries boss Eddie Howe admitted the full extent of the Aussie's latest woes had yet to be determined.

Howe told the Daily Echo: "Unfortunately, Adam felt his knee while training with the national team, the same one he had recently had surgery on.

"He has seen a specialist and we think he will be having an operation on Tuesday next week.

"I don't know if it will be as long term as previously. Before the surgeon goes in, I don't think we will know fully.

"Without knowing for definite, I would imagine he will have his operation in London and then have his rehab with us."

Federici made five appearances for Cherries last season, two of which were in the Premier League.
