TONY Pulis felt a perfectly-executed game plan had been pivotal in West Brom’s victory over Cherries.

The Baggies triumphed thanks to Ahmed Hegazi’s first-half header, the Egyptian netting on his Premier League debut.

Hegazi rose to meet a Chris Brunt free-kick at the far post after Cherries had fail to deal with the set-piece.

The hosts were then content to sit on their lead and frustrated Cherries as they went in search of an equaliser.

Former Cherries boss Pulis told the Daily Echo: “We have watched Bournemouth on a lot of occasions and their rotation is good.

“It is well managed and everybody knows that they are doing, both in and out of possession.

“You go into games knowing what they are going to do so you can’t get sucked out of position because, if you do, they get runners behind you and that is when they can cause you most problems.

“We were very patient and had to be.

“My big thing is looking at the stats at the top-end of the pitch and we had more shots, more crosses and more corners.”

Pulis had been among the crowd for Cherries’ final two pre-season friendlies against Valencia and Napoli – and was accompanied to the Valencia game by grandson Luca.

“Luca wrote the reports on both games and he was fantastic!” joked Pulis. “He told me ‘Gramps, you’ve got to do this and make sure you do that’.”
