CHERRIES goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been selected in the England under-19 squad which will compete in next month's European Championship.

Coach Keith Downing has named an 18-man group for the tournament in Georgia, with 19-year-old Ramsdale one of two keepers in the party, alongside West Ham's Nathan Trott.

England start their campaign against Bulgaria on July 3, before facing Holland three days later. A clash with Germany on July 9 will represent the Young Lions' final Group B test, with the top two teams progressing to the semi-finals.

All three of England's group matches will be held in Georgian capital Tbilisi.

Ramsdale, an £800,000 signing from Sheffield United in January, was his country's number one during the qualifying stages and will be part of a side seeking to extend England's success in youth competitions this summer.

The under-20 team, captained by Cherries midfielder Lewis Cook, lifted the World Cup in South Korea, while a shadow under-20 side won the Toulon Tournament.

England reached the last four of the European under-19 championship 12 months ago, with eight of the team who started a semi-final defeat by Italy going on to be instrumental to the under-20s' success in the Far East this month.

A France side featuring Monaco's £100million rated striker Kylian Mbappe thumped Italy 4-0 in last year's final in Germany.
