MIDFIELDER Lewis Cook will miss the final game of Cherries' campaign after being named in the England under-20 squad for this month's World Cup in South Korea.

Cook has played the full 90 minutes in each of Cherries' past two matches – the victory over Sunderland and Saturday's draw with Stoke – having waited patiently for another starting chance following his debut on the season's opening day.

His campaign was disrupted when he injured an ankle on England under-20s' duty last October but the 20-year-old played all three games for his country when they won a four-team tournament in France two months ago.

Cook had a hand in both his team's goals as Cherries twice hit back to seal the point against Stoke that confirmed their Premier League safety and will be hoping to retain his place when Burnley visit Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

He has been given special dispensation – along with Middlesbrough centre-back Dael Fry – to remain with his club until after the weekend's Premier League matches, when he will fly to the Far East to join Paul Simpson's squad, thus ruling him out of Cherries' trip to Leicester on May 21.

The rest of the 21-man Three Lions group assemble at St George's Park this week to begin preparations for the tournament.

England start their bid for glory against Argentina on May 20. They take on Guinea three days later, before finishing their Group A fixtures with a match against the hosts on May 26.
