GOALKEEPER Artur Boruc is set to extend his stay with Cherries after triggering an appearance-related clause entitling him to a new deal, the Daily Echo can exclusively reveal.

Boruc has kept eight clean sheets in 32 games in the Premier League this season and played a key role as Cherries have picked up 38 points.

The 37-year-old joined Cherries on a free transfer in June 2015 after impressing during two separate loan spells from Southampton as the Dorset club won the Championship.

He became Eddie Howe’s first permanent signing following promotion and earned a new contract for his exploits in the club’s maiden campaign in the top flight.

Boruc agreed terms on a new one-year deal last summer which included provision for a further 12 months after he had played an agreed number of games.

And Boruc, who retired from international football in March after winning 64 caps for Poland, has now activated the clause.

It means every member of Howe’s first-team squad is now contracted to the club at least until the end of next season.

Boruc has missed just two games this season, with a back injury ruling him out of the 1-0 win at Stoke and the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal in November.
