CHERRIES defender Steve Cook was "disappointed" by the Spurs fans who revelled in Jack Wilshere's injury blow on Saturday.

Wilshere, who had been taunted by the home supporters throughout the match, hobbled off to enormous cheers and mocking chants 11 minutes after half-time following a challenge on Harry Kane.

The 25-year-old is on loan with Cherries from Tottenham's north London rivals Arsenal and has previously publicly voiced his antipathy for the White Hart Lane club.

Wilshere was starting his 22nd game for his loan team at the weekend but left the ground on crutches and with his boot encased in a protective boot.

"There is no love lost between Arsenal and Tottenham fans, or between Jack and Tottenham fans," said Cook. "But their reaction wasn't nice.

"He is a professional and what has been said in the past has happened... but no one likes to see a reaction like that to a player getting injured.

"That is the game but for me it is disappointing."

While he didn't know the extent of Wilshere's problem, Cook expressed sympathy for his team-mate's plight.

"It didn’t look good but I don’t know what the injury is," continued the centre-back. "We hope it is good news and I am sure we will find out more in the next couple of days.

"It was very disappointing for the team and, obviously, for him – especially in this game – that he had to come off injured.

"Whatever the outcome is we will rally around him. It is never nice when a team-mate is injured and we need him for these final five games so, hopefully, it will be good news and we can move on from this match."
