EDDIE Howe admits Cherries have missed Nathan Ake but insists he has "no problem" with weekend opponents Chelsea over their decision to recall the Dutchman.

The adaptable Ake made 10 appearances after joining the Dorset side on loan in the summer but was recalled by his parent club in January with boss Antonio Conte keen to bolster his selection options.

However, Ake, reportedly the subject of a big-money bid by Cherries later that month, has yet to make a single appearance in the top flight for the Blues this campaign, his only outings since returning to Stamford Bridge coming in the FA Cup.

Reflecting on Ake's season, Howe said: "The first thing I would say is that we are very thankful to Chelsea for loaning him to us in the first place. I think there has to be that element of trust that we are going to look after one of their brightest prospects, so we are very appreciative of the loan.

"We were of course disappointed to lose him because he was an integral part of our team but that's Chelsea's right. He's their player. They could recall him and I've got no problem with it.

"It impacted on us at that time and we've missed him, not just on the pitch but off the pitch because he's a great lad and he fitted so well into our team.

"They did what they felt was right for him and for their club, so I've got no problem with it."

Asked if he would be keen to pursue a deal for the 22-year-old in the summer, Howe said: "Our only focus at the moment is trying to stay in the league and get as many points as we can. We will review our summer recruitment at the appropriate time."

Howe rates midfielder Dan Gosling as a 50-50 prospect to face Chelsea tomorrow (5.30pm).

The Cherries boss added: "I think it will be difficult for him to be involved so soon but we'll wait and see. We will give him every chance to declare himself fit."
