CHERRIES fans and pundits have reacted with disbelief over the FA’s decision not to throw the book at Marcos Rojo for his alleged stamp on Eden Hazard.

The incident came in Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Manchester United on Monday – and just days after Cherries star Tyrone Mings had been found guilty of a similar charge.

Defender Mings was hit with a five-match retrospective ban after an Independent Regulatory Commission claimed he had deliberately trodden on Zlatan Ibrahimovic during Cherries’ 1-1 draw at Old Trafford earlier this month.

And Ibrahimovic received a three-game suspension after being deemed to have elbowed Mings – with referee Kevin Friend failing to see either incident.

Yesterday, Rojo was cleared by the FA of any wrongdoing despite television footage showing him appearing to make contact with Hazard’s chest.

Manchester United were charged with failing to control their players after they had surrounded referee Michael Oliver following the dismissal of Ander Herrera for a second yellow card.

But while it was widely thought Rojo would face a separate charge, it is understood Oliver stated in his report that he had seen the incident and, in accordance with FA rules, there could be no retrospective action.

The decision was met with incredulity, with a host of Cherries supporters and pundits, including Matthew Le Tissier, Stan Collymore and former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan, wading into the argument.
