JACK Wilshere says he wants to "play every minute" for Cherries, but insists the team's fortunes are more important than his own predicament.

The 25-year-old came off the bench for the final five minutes to play an integral role in Joshua King's 90th-minute winner against West Ham on Saturday.

It was the second successive game Wilshere had started among the substitutes, after he was restricted to a watching brief for the draw at Manchester United seven days earlier.

Asked by the Daily Echo if being out of the team has been tough, Arsenal loanee Wilshere said: "Of course it has. I want to play every minute, that is why I came here.

"But I have always been a team player. Wherever I have been it has been the team first – and last week they put in a good performance.

"The manager picks the team. I respect the manager’s decision and the team are justifying that. They are playing well, so we will see what happens next week."

In keeping with his 'all-for one' attitude, Wilshere was thrilled his late run and shot led to King completing his hat-trick and sealing three vital points for Cherries.

He said: "Coming on from the bench that is all you can do. We are there to affect the game when we come on.

"At 2-2 we felt we had done enough to win the game and we would have been disappointed not to get the three points.

"We are delighted. We needed that win, we played well last week and we had to back that up.

"We have felt during the season that we are too good to go down. We had the attitude of going into games expecting to win.

"We did that in some games but then didn’t back it up. That is why we are in this position.

"Now we know what we have to do, we delivered today and we have to do it again next week."

Wilshere was suitably impressed by the performance of King, who added to his burgeoning reputation by taking his season's Premier League goal tally to 11.

"He works hard in training and in the gym – and I know he wants to play up front," added the midfielder.

"When Callum (Wilson) got injured that gave Kingy his chance to play where he thinks he should.

"And he’s showing why he should play up there. He’s got everything you need as a striker.

"If I was a defender I would hate to play against him.

"He’s quick, he’s strong, he can hold the ball up and he’s starting to show now that he can finish. "
