EDDIE Howe believes Cherries have acquired one of the country's foremost young goalkeepers in Aaron Ramsdale.

The 18-year-old, yet to make a league appearance as a professional, joined Cherries from Sheffield United on deadline day for a fee believed to be around £800,000.

Prior to linking up with the Dorset club, Ramsdale had been the subject of a reported bid by Everton, while the Daily Echo understands Arsenal and Manchester City were also interested.

Already bedding into the first-team squad, the teenager has "all the attributes" according to boss Howe.

Howe said: "Aaron is a talented young goalkeeper – one of the most talented young goalkeepers in the country.

"He is a good size and a good kicker, as well as being really good with his feet and a good shot-stopper. He has a very bright future.

"He will need some physical development in the next few months and years but he has all the attributes."

Ramsdale made his first-team debut for Sheffield United in a 6-0 FA Cup hammering of Leyton Orient in November.

His second appearance for the Blades came in a 3-2 loss to Bolton in the same competition, the club which had released him at the age of 15.
