EDDIE Howe has tipped Cherries midfielder Emerson Hyndman to develop into "a great player".

Hyndman has been a big hit during a loan spell at Rangers, the move coming two days after he had made his sole Cherries start in the FA Cup defeat at Millwall.

The American had previously appeared twice from the bench for Howe's side following his summer arrival from Fulham.

But since moving north of the border, Hyndman has given no indication that he is suffering from any ring rust.

After supplying the match-winning pass for Kenny Miller in a debut Scottish Cup cameo against Motherwell, the 20-year-old marked his first start for Rangers by starring and scoring in a 2-0 Premiership victory over the same opponents.

Howe, who has already expressed a belief Hyndman will return to Vitality Stadium a better player for his Ibrox stint, told the Daily Echo: "I’m really pleased for Emerson. He’s a really talented player, he’s going to be great player for the future.

"I think this loan spell was just what he needed, not just in terms of playing the games but also the stature of the club he’s at.

"What an experience for him... to play under that pressure and expectation at a club like Rangers will do him the world of good.

"It is a really important part of his development."
