AFC Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter and his partner Rachel are celebrating the birth of their daughter, who was born in a London hospital on Friday.

The arrival of baby Raine Renne Arter was confirmed by Arter to friends, before the Cherries player paid tribute to his tragic daughter Renée who was delivered stillborn in December 2015.

Writing on Instagram, Arter said: “A rainbow baby is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravage of a storm.

“When the rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is now dealing with its aftermath.

“What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkest clouds.”

And on Saturday, he thanked everyone for their support.

Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn congratulated the couple on the birth of Raine.

Earlier this month, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola met Arter on the pitch after City’s 2-0 win at Vitality Stadium.

He wished him luck with the birth of his child and, asked about the incident, Arter told the Daily Echo: “He offered his best wishes for me and my partner this week, which was an unbelievable touch.”

Fans have also expressed their joy for the family, sending messages on social media.
