IT is Valentine's Day today and love is in the air. Or is it on the terraces.
According to a survey by The Football Pools just 21 per cent of the nation's footie fans would skip a football match to spend a romantic evening with their partner, and AFC Bournemouth fans are the least romantic of all.
In fact, not a single Cherries enthusiast who responded to the survey was prepared to miss a game for love, the firm said, and the club also boasts the highest percentage of supporters more willing to leave their partner than support a different club.
However, local councillor Phil Stanley-Watts has defended Bournemouth's reputation as a romantic town.
"I believe Bournemouth should be at the top of the list," he said.
"We’ve got the best restaurants, with food from all over the world.
"We hold beach weddings and hold weddings in the town hall, which is one of the most popular places on the south coast for weddings."
Stoke City fans were revealed to be the most romantic in the Premier League, with 55 per cent choosing to spend February 14 with their partner.
