CHAIRMAN Jeff Mostyn says Cherries boss Eddie Howe does not require a "vote of confidence" from the club's hierarchy.

The Dorset side have yet to taste victory this year and have dropped to 14th in the Premier League.

Howe steered Cherries to their highest finish in the English ladder last term when he presided over a 16th-place effort, following promotion the previous season.

And Mostyn, speaking to BBC South Today's Kris Temple who yesterday hosted a chairman's lunch at Vitality Stadium, said Howe was not in need of a vote of confidence.

Asked how the Cherries boss had been dealing with "choppy waters", Mostyn replied: "I had a wry smile on my face when Claudio (Ranieri, Leicester boss) was given an overwhelming vote of confidence by the Leicester board.

"If anyone gave me an overwhelming vote of confidence, I'd be worried about my future, so we never have to give Eddie that.

"Eddie is our manager and will continue to be our manager for the foreseeable future.

"We have an incredible relationship. You will never get a person more level-headed. He doesn't react to the highs and doesn't react to the lows.

"He turns up for work and is more determined than ever to ensure this football club retains its position at the top level of football."
