CHERRIES under-21s boss Stephen Purches says Jordan Green’s loan move to Leyton Orient is being held up by red tape.

The winger was prevented from making his debut for the League Two strugglers on Saturday after it emerged Orient were still to receive official papers from the Welsh FA following Green’s stint with Newport County earlier this term.

“It has been left with both clubs to try to sort out with FIFA and the English and Welsh FAs,” said Purches. “It’s a gutting situation for the young boy.

“He’s just trying to get his career on the map and he’s wanting the platform to go and play, so it’s very frustrating at the moment."

Green is one of a host of under-21s who left Vitality Stadium on loan last month, leaving Purches to call on a number of youth team players for today’s Central League fixture at Swindon.

Sam Surridge and Matt Worthington are likely to be training with Eddie Howe’s first team, further narrowing Purches's options for the trip to Wiltshire.

“It’s an opportunity for the youth boys to come in and get a game,” added Purches, who is not due to include any trialists in his team.

“We want to have a look at the boys in the building and give them a chance to play a competitive fixture.”
