CHERRIES midfielder Emerson Hyndman has completed a loan move to Rangers and will spend the remainder of the season at Ibrox.

Hyndman has been short of football since penning a four-year deal with Cherries in the summer following the expiry of his Fulham contract.

The 20-year-old was handed a first start for Eddie Howe’s team in Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Millwall.

He was replaced by Dan Gosling after 56 minutes of Cherries’ 3-0 defeat, having found the going tough against the League One team’s combative midfield.

Hyndman’s only previous appearances for Cherries came from the bench in EFL Cup ties with Morecambe and Preston earlier this season.

The American joins a Rangers side that is second in the Scottish Premiership, but trailing Old Firm rivals Celtic by a mammoth 19 points.

Gers boss Mark Warburton has been searching for a midfielder ever since Joey Barton’s short-lived Ibrox career came off the rails following a 5-1 defeat at Celtic in September.

With the Scottish Premiership currently on its winter break, Hyndman will have to wait until January 21 for a possible Rangers debut – when Warburton’s side host Motherwell in the Scottish Cup fourth round.

They resume their league campaign the following week with a trip to Fir Park to play the same team.
