REPORTS in Scotland suggest Cherries midfielder Emerson Hyndman will spend the rest of this campaign on loan at Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.

The American international signed a four-year deal at Vitality Stadium last summer after the expiry of his contract with Fulham.

Hyndman made his first Cherries start against Millwall on Saturday, when he struggled to get to grips with a frenetic midfield contest against the League One team.

His only previous appearances for the club came from the bench in EFL Cup ties with Morecambe and Preston.

The 20-year-old came to England in 2011 to link up with the Fulham academy, and subsequently played 28 first-team games for the west London side.

Second in the Scottish top-flight, but trailing Old Firm rivals Celtic by 19 points, Rangers have been seeking to bolster their midfield stocks since severing ties with Joey Barton early in the season.

Hyndman was one of a host of Cherries players who failed to make the most of a rare start at The Den and Andrew Surman – one of the few older heads to feature in his side's FA Cup defeat – said: "I can’t speak for anyone else, but I have been there and you want to prove yourself when you’ve not been playing.

"Everyone is disappointed. As a team we weren’t good enough".
