STEVE Cook says Cherries must look to “build some momentum” by winning their FA Cup tie at Millwall tomorrow.

Eddie Howe’s side has not won successive matches since March but could stretch their current mini-unbeaten run to a third game by avoiding a cup shock in south London.

Howe’s team selection for the clash with the League One promotion-chasers is expected to be made with Cherries’ Premier League campaign uppermost in his mind.

But irrespective of who starts at The Den, defender Cook is backing them to grab their chance to impress.

He told the Daily Echo: “It’s tough to say we’re safe because, in the Premier League, things can turn very quickly.

“But whoever plays in cup matches has a chance to stake a claim for a league spot.

“We want to enjoy the FA Cup. It can be a magical competition and you need wins in it to take into league games.

“We have to build some momentum – we haven’t won back-to-back league games for a long time.”

Cook has played all of Cherries' 20 league matches this season but would relish a taste of some knockout football.

“I’m fit and ready and, if called upon, I’ll be looking to make sure we get through,” he added.

“It’s always hostile there and we must be up for the challenge.”

Cook came off the bench in last season's third round victory at Birmingham and scored against Millwall in both games against them at Dean Court in Cherries' two years in the Championship.
