LEYTON Orient are hoping Harry Cornick will soon be fit to return after undergoing surgery to resolve a troublesome groin issue.

Forward Cornick joined the League Two side on loan at the start of the season but has not played since experiencing discomfort following the 0-0 draw with Barnet at the start of October.

The 21-year-old has undergone rehabilitation in Dorset and last week had surgery with the aim of accelerating his recovery.

Orient's head physiotherapist Peter Webb told the club website: "Following the Barnet game, Harry had some pain and went back to Bournemouth for a check-up with their doctor who after that period wanted him to complete his rehabilitation there.

"Harry went to see a specialist two weeks ago. From that appointment it was deemed the injury was a little bit more serious than first thought, meaning he required further intervention. He underwent an operation on Tuesday last week.

"Harry is currently back at Bournemouth undergoing his rehab programme and, hopefully, he will be able to return to the club before the end of his loan period in January."
