JACK Wilshere has refuted suggestions his Arsenal career is over but the England midfielder admits the onus is on him to "prove himself all over again".

Wilshere was responding to comments made by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp prior to Cherries' pulsating 0-0 draw with Tottenham on Saturday.

Former Dean Court midfielder Redknapp claimed he saw no future for Wilshere at the Emirates Stadium and that the 24-year-old would “realise he has got to get away from Arsenal”.

Cherries loan star Wilshere played the full 90 minutes against Spurs, the first time he had completed an entire game at club level in more than two years.

“I don’t know where he (Redknapp) got that from,” said Wilshere. “He’s entitled to his opinion. I’m just trying to get back to what I was and enjoying my football. Today was a massive step towards that.

“If he doesn’t see me going back to Arsenal, then that’s up to him. But I haven’t thought about that.”

Wilshere, who has now started five successive Premier League matches, was delighted to have been on the pitch from the first whistle to the last.

“Of course it matters,” he said. “Mentally it will help me. Physically it improves me and I’ll feel better for it next week.

“I knew it was going to take some time. Two years is a long time without playing. When you play, game by game you start to get your confidence back and try more things.

"I feel I’m getting my first five yards of power back and when I have that I can do more things with the ball.”

Wilshere agreed with Redknapp’s assertion that Cherries would offer him the perfect platform to prove he remained the rare talent who thrillingly burst on to the scene as a teenager with Arsenal.

“For me to come here and taste a different side of the Premier League, where you have to fight for everything, you have to fight for every point and work as a team, it’s definitely out of my comfort zone,” said Wilshere.

“I’ve felt that (I have to prove myself) for a number of years now. Being out injured, then coming back, playing a few games, trying to get your fitness back, then getting injured again, you don’t get a chance to prove what you can do.

“So no matter where I was I would feel I have to prove myself all over again because I’ve missed so much football.”

Wilshere received some fearful stick from Tottenham's travelling fans and confessed he had been determined to put one over on the White Hart Lane club.

“I’m still an Arsenal fan, so of course it matters,” he said. “But it matters to us as Bournemouth players, because we’re in a good position in the league. We’re getting stronger and stronger and we want to climb the table.

“When we play the top teams we know that sometimes you have to lift yourself up a level and put in special performances. I thought we did that.

“It’s part of football (abuse from rival fans). I expected it to be honest. I’m not looking forward to going to the Lane!”
