CALLUM Wilson says there is no danger of Cherries getting carried away after their 6-1 rout of Hull City.

The striker, who scored his third goal this season against the Tigers, was nevertheless thrilled his side delivered a display which reflected their hard work across the past fortnight.

Charlie Daniels, Steve Cook and Junior Stanislas, twice, were all on target before Wilson struck in the 83rd minute. Substitute Dan Gosling rounded off the scoring with two minutes to play.

“It was just a normal day at the office,” said Wilson. “I’ll just go home, relax and look forward to next week. There’s nothing to cheer about. It’s a good victory but it’s a long season.

“We’re trying to be consistent. After the international break it’s a case of trying to get the momentum back.

“We’ve done everything we’ve worked on in the past two weeks in training and that showed in our performance.”

With his striker’s hat on, Wilson admitted he was itching to join Daniels, Cook and Stanislas on the scoresheet as the clock ticked down against Cherries’ overpowered opponents.

“From the kick-off I was hungry to score – the same as I am every week,” said the 24-year-old. “When the team has got four goals and you’re not amongst it yet, you are trying that bit more to put the icing on the cake for yourself.

“But the main thing was the team performance. When you’re four goals up, you’re delighted with your team-mates and with how we’ve played and we would have taken 4-1. But, thankfully, I managed to get myself on the scoresheet.”

The victory over Hull represented Cherries’ third home Premier League win on the bounce. But Wilson rejected the notion a fear factor is starting to grip teams travelling to Vitality Stadium.

He said: “I don’t think it’s so much a case of them being scared. We’re just trying to build momentum here. Home games are when you want to put on a show for your own fans and teams won’t like coming down here.

“Last season we were a bit sloppy here, we didn’t get as many wins as we would have liked but we’ve turned that round so far this season.”

Wilson was also full of praise for the red-hot Stanislas, although the former Coventry City man admitted he would have liked to take the first-half penalty his team-mate slammed high into the net.

“I’d won the penalty and as a striker, naturally, not having scored, I wanted it,” he said.

“The ball was thrown over my head and one of their players gave it to Junior before I got a chance to get over there. So I wasn't going to put him off, I let him take it. He assisted me last time (against Watford), so he can have it this week!

“I’m delighted for him. He’s full of confidence. He finished last season strongly as well.

"He’s keeping his place in the team and making it hard for everyone else to get in. He’s scored three goals this season as well as providing a few assists and long may it continue.”
