CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe says Harry Arter's discipline and composure has improved hugely during his six years at Cherries.

Midfielder Arter received the third red card of his career against West Ham United last weekend, earning cautions for dissent and then hauling back Cheikhou Kouyate.

Banned for Wednesday's EFL Cup win at Morecambe, Arter is available for tomorrow's Premier League trip to Crystal Palace (3pm).

Reflecting on Arter's development, Howe told the Daily Echo: “Harry’s matured. It’s easy to forget when you look back and see where he was to where he is now, there’s been a big improvement in his discipline and composure.

“It’s a very delicate balance because if you took that away from Harry totally, he wouldn’t be as effective so it just needs to be harnessed in the right way and he needs to keep his cool at key moments in the game.

“Harry’s a different kind of player to most. He lives on the edge and is very passionate about his performances and winning and losing.

"Sometimes he just needs to control that but it’s something we’ve worked on him for a long time. I think rule changes this season will affect him more than anybody in our squad."
