BOSS Eddie Howe has hinted at the possibility of summer signings Emerson Hyndman and Lys Mousset featuring in cup games next week.

Cherries meet Burnley in the first qualifying round of the Premier League Cup at Turf Moor (2pm) on Monday and visit Morecambe in the League Cup on Wednesday (7.45pm).

While Cherries are likely to field their under-21s against the Clarets, competition rules allow clubs to include three outfield players and a goalkeeper over the age of 23.

In common with previous seasons, Howe is expected to make sweeping changes when Cherries face the Shrimps in the second round of the League Cup at the Globe Arena.

Midfielder Hyndman, who joined Cherries from Fulham, has yet to taste any action with the first team having sustained an ankle injury on the first day of pre-season.

And striker Mousset, a £5m signing from Le Havre, was used sparingly during Cherries' warm-up campaign as he adjusted to the demands of the English game.

Howe told the Daily Echo: "Emerson has been training with us for 10 days and his performances have been excellent.

"But like a couple of the other players, when you are out for that long during pre-season, you miss a lot of work so we need to build up his fitness. He is going to be a very exciting player for us.

"Lys has completed most of the training but is still getting used to the way we train.

"We train and work our players very hard and it’s a slightly different environment to the one he was used to in France.

"I think he is going to be an exceptional player for us when we get him fully fit but I wouldn’t say he is quite there yet."
