IPSWICH Town manager Mick McCarthy has distanced himself from speculation over a loan move for Cherries left-back Tyrone Mings.

Mings, 23, joined from the Tractor Boys last summer but his campaign was quickly curtailed having torn his anterior and medial ligaments.

Talksport reported that Mings could bid to get fit again with a temporary stint at Portman Road but McCarthy was quick to scotch those suggestions.

“I don’t know if Tyrone mooted that because he sees that he’s probably unlikely to get in at Bournemouth. He might have said ‘maybe I can go back to play at Ipswich?’,” said McCarthy.

“That’s a nice thought but I have got a left-back who has done really well. Taking one on loan when Jonas Knudsen really was excellent last year would be counter-productive for the players I have got.

“Myles Kenlock was also excellent in the last two games of last season – against Derby I thought he was terrific. That one is unlikely. He’s not going to be fit until December anyway, I think.”
