GOALKEEPER Artur Boruc has finalised terms on a new one-year contract with Cherries.

Boruc, who is currently on duty with Poland at Euro 2016, played a key role in helping Cherries preserve their Premier League status last season.

The 36-year-old kept seven clean sheets in 32 appearances in the top flight.

He was entitled to fresh terms after triggering an appearance-related clause in his previous contract, as revealed in April by the Daily Echo.

A free transfer from Southampton last summer, Boruc also impressed during two separate loan spells when Cherries won the Championship in 2014-15.

He kept 16 clean sheets – including six in his first nine league games – and played 37 times as Eddie Howe’s team clinched promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history.

Boruc becomes the sixth member of Howe’s squad to agree a new contract since the end of the season, following fellow goalkeepers Adam Federici and Ryan Allsop together with Harry Arter, Adam Smith and Steve Cook.

His signing brings to six the number of contracted goalkeepers on the books – Federici, Allsop, Jordan Holmes, Pat O’Flaherty and Callum Stanton. Mark Travers and Mitch Steadman are the two youth team stoppers.

Boruc’s decision to extend his stay at Vitality Stadium is likely to complete Howe’s team of goalkeepers for the forthcoming campaign despite rumours linking Cherries with a host of possible new signings.
