HARRY Arter faces an anxious wait to discover whether his Euro 2016 dream has been wrecked by injury.

Cherries star Arter was today forced to pull out of a training session ahead of the Republic of Ireland’s friendly against Belarus in Cork tomorrow.

Arter felt some discomfort to his thigh and was referred for a scan, with the midfielder unlikely to face Belarus.

Boss Martin O’Neill is due to name his final 23-man squad for the tournament in France following the match and Arter will be sweating on his inclusion.

O’Neill told the gathered media: “Harry Arter came off with a thigh injury so we will get him a scan shortly and see what the doctor says.”

Arter played a starring role and was named man of the match in the Republic’s 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in Dublin on Friday.

He appeared to have done his selection prospects a power of good, although his injury may now influence O'Neill's decision.

Arter's Cherries team-mate Eunan O'Kane has pushed himself into contention in recent months and will also be hoping to get the nod.
