CHERRIES goalkeeping coach Neil Moss reckons "fitness freak" Adam Federici could play until he is 40.

Ex-Reading stopper Federici made six Premier League appearances last season with the form of Artur Boruc keeping him out of the side.

However, Moss praised the training-ground attitude of the Australia international, who could feature against England at Sunderland's Stadium of Light tonight (7.45).

And Moss feels the experienced keeper's commitment to fitness will serve him well in years to come.

Moss told the Daily Echo: "Feds has got plenty of years left. He is one of those who really looks after himself.

"He is a gym freak and a fitness freak and there is no reason why he couldn't go on for another 10 years.

"We had David James with us who was another one of those, who was playing for us at the age of 42.

"I don't see any reason why Feds can't go on until he is at least 40 bearing in mind the condition he keeps himself in.

"He wants to work, train and be out there longer than what is healthy for him! We have to send him in at times to make sure we don't damage him.

"If it was up to him, he would be out there 24 hours a day, diving around and making saves. He loves it.

"For me, it's great that we never have to worry about him behind the scenes. He is spot on.

"As a lad and a pro, we have never once questioned his commitment. He was a pleasure to work with all year."

Boruc could extend his stay with Cherries this summer after triggering an appearance-related clause entitling him to a new contract.

And if the Polish international elects to remain at Vitality Stadium, Federici will continue to battle for the number-one jersey with the 36-year-old.

Asked what Federici needed to do to earn more first-team action next term, Moss said: "Not too much different to what he did this year.

"Feds is going to have to do as well as he can in pre-season and then it will be a difficult decision for the manager as to which goalkeeper he chooses.

"In terms of his work rate, he hasn't got to change too much. I'm sure he will come back and have a right go.

"He will be desperate to play a few more games in the Premier League than he did this season.

"When he has been called upon, he hasn't let us down, it's just unfortunate for him that he had to compete against another highly-experienced goalkeeper in Artur Boruc."

Cherries midfielders Harry Arter and Eunan O'Kane will hope to feature for the Republic of Ireland in their Euro 2016 warm-up clash against the Netherlands (7.45).
