FULL-back Adam Smith has become the latest player to commit his future to Cherries after penning a new four-year contract.

The 25-year-old, who made 31 Premier League appearances this season, will remain at Vitality Stadium until at least 2020.

News of the defender's contract comes just 24 hours after the club announced Steve Cook had tied up a fresh three-year deal.

Smith said: “Of course I was happy to sign. The club have given me a long contract so I am glad I can see my future at Bournemouth for a long time.

“I am settled here, I get along with all of the lads and the gaffer knows me really well, so it was a no-brainer.”

He added: “I feel I’ve done well this season but I definitely think there is more to come from me next year.

"There will be competition for places in the squad but I want get into the starting line-up and keep my place.

“I think it’s important the club keeps everyone together as well. We have a great team spirit and if we can keep everyone then I am sure we can achieve great things.”

Smith joined Cherries from Tottenham in January 2014 for an undisclosed fee.

The ex-Derby and Leeds loanee made five Championship appearances that season and a further 29 last term, many of which were as a substitute.

Smith became more involved this campaign after skipper Tommy Elphick succumbed to a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

But after being forced off injured during the 4-0 defeat to Manchester City at the beginning of April, Smith did not feature again during the 2015-16 season.

The full-back was speaking to the club website.
