CHERRIES youngster Matt Butcher today extended his stint at Woking as the emergency loan window closed in low-key fashion.

The versatile midfielder, who initially joined the National League side on a month-long loan deal at the end of February, will now remain at Kingfield for the rest of the season.

Under-21s prospect Butcher has featured twice for Cherries’ first team, making his debut as a substitute in the League Cup win at Hartlepool before earning his first start in the FA Cup triumph at Birmingham.

There were no moves for any of boss Eddie Howe’s first-team players on the final day of the window.

Midfielder Shaun MacDonald and striker Glenn Murray had been linked with temporary switches to Bristol City and Brighton, respectively.

Howe had stated that frontman Tokelo Rantie, who is not in the club’s 25-man Premier League squad, would be allowed to get games elsewhere if he wished.

Murray has bagged four goals in 22 Cherries appearances while MacDonald and Rantie have had limited involvement this season.
