EDDIE Howe admits there is little prospect of Cherries being granted emergency loan cover with the boss sweating on the fitness of his two first-choice goalkeepers.

Adam Federici was withdrawn at half-time during Saturday’s thrill-a-minute 3-3 draw with Everton having fallen awkwardly on his ankle in the 17th minute.

The Australia international was pictured in the dugout wearing a protective plastic boot with crutches by his side during the second half.

Poland international Artur Boruc will see a specialist about his knee complaint with Howe conceding that “it does not look good” for either stopper in the short term.

That leaves Howe with third-choice Ryan Allsop as his only senior keeper but with youngsters such as Jordan Holmes on professional contracts, the Premier League is unlikely to sanction a temporary move.

The precedent appears to have been set last season when Newcastle United asked if they could sign short-term cover, only to be told no because they had rookies Jak Alnwick and Freddie Woodman on the books as well as Karl Darlow, who was obliged to remain on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Rules state that the Premier League board has “absolute discretion” to sanction the temporary transfer of a goalkeeper “in circumstances it considers to be exceptional”.

Asked whether a loan move would be possible, Howe said: “I don’t think it is at the moment because we have a fit goalkeeper.

“We will wait and see, we are unsure on the length of Artur Boruc’s injury, he will be seeing a specialist this week so it doesn’t look good.

“Adam does not look good, it looks like he has twisted his ankle to point where it has blown up, it is really swollen so he was no good at half-time.”

To add to Howe’s woes, Harry Arter left the pitch clutching his hamstring.

“Harry just felt something in his hamstring but we’re not aware how serious that is,” Howe added.
