CHERRIES defender Elliott Ward is reportedly set to extend his loan at Championship club Huddersfield Town.
The 30-year-old has been ever present for the Terriers since initially signing on a temporary deal that expires on Wednesday.
It was anticipated the stint would be extended to three months with Huddersfield boss Chris Powell keen to keep Ward.
“We don’t want to be caught short,” Powell told the Huddersfield Examiner. “I will talk to both Elliott and Bournemouth but I think we will extend it.”
The ex-West Ham and Nottingham Forest centre-half endured an injury-plagued 18 months at Dean Court after initially damaging his knee during Cherries’ 1-0 defeat by Leicester in February 2014.
Despite making two further appearances in 2014-15, Ward suffered a recurrence following Cherries’ League Cup first round win at Exeter in August 2014, his last competitive 90-minute run-out for the club.
He returned to come off the bench against Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last season but was not included in Cherries' 25-man Premier League squad.
