CHERRIES manager Eddie Howe insisted there was "no blame attached" to goalkeeper Artur Boruc after the Pole's error led to Watford's equaliser in today's 1-1 draw at Vitality Stadium.

Boruc did not get enough on a backpass from Sylvain Distin, gifting Idion Ighalo a tap in that helped the Hornets pocket a point.

Opposing keeper Heurelho Gomes rubbed salt into the wound, spectacularly clawing defender Steve Cook's 20-yard bicycle kick out of the top corner during the latter stages before denying Cherries goalscorer Glenn Murray from the penalty spot.

On Boruc's mistake, Howe said: “It was one of those things. We encourage our players and our goalkeeper to be brave and to take responsibility to play from the back, that is very much our philosophy.

“There is no blame attached to Artur, he has been excellent since he came here.

"He has made very few errors but unfortunately, it is the life of a goalkeeper, you are going to make mistakes. It was just unfortunate with the timing of the goal and how dominant we had been in the half."
