CHERRIES have reportedly had a bid accepted by Italian club Napoli for Holland international midfielder Jonathan de Guzman.

The developments emanating from various Italian media outlets this morning claim the deal could be worth 6 million euro, with the prospect of an initial loan costing 1 million euro also mooted.

It follows hot on the heels of reports that the ex-Swansea man, believed to be a target for Cherries, rejected a move to Premier League rivals Sunderland over the weekend.

Last week, speculation was rife that Napoli had agreed a season-long loan deal with the Black Cats with a 5.5 million euro option to buy should they remain in the top flight.

But de Guzman is said to have turned down the move with the prospect of a move to French giants Marseille also doing the rounds.

Across two season-long loan stints in Premier League with the Swans, 27-year-old de Guzman made 71 top-flight appearances, scored nine league goals and helped his temporary club lift the League Cup in 2013 with a brace in the final against Bradford City.

He has 14 international caps and played in Holland's 5-1 thumping of Spain in the 2014 World Cup.

When quizzed on the link to de Guzman 10 days ago, Cherries boss Eddie Howe said: “We don’t comment on transfer targets out of respect for everybody concerned, the player and the club, and will do our business in private.

“We have not made an offer for anyone at this stage but we are looking to add.”

Meanwhile, the Mirror has reported Cherries eager to sign Hull City centre-half and captain Michael Dawson.

The 31-year-old made more than 200 Premier League appearances across eight-and-a-half years at Tottenham Hotspur and played 31 times for the Tigers last season.
