STEPHEN Purches was content after his under-21s pouched a 1-1 draw at West Ham – even if he felt they should have won.

Joe Quigley levelled matters in the second half at the Hammers’ Rush Green Stadium training ground.

Cherries began well but paid the price for Harry Cornick missing a pair of one-on-one opportunities and went on to concede the opener after half an hour.

West Ham piled on the pressure from there but the visitors recovered to restore parity with 20 minutes to play.

Purches told the Daily Echo: “The boys played well in phases of the game and we should really have been 2-0 up when we gave away the ball in front of goal which gave them the lead.

“They had a spell of pressure after that but we coped well and got ourselves back into it later on.

“It was a decent game and probably a fair result but we were not clinical enough in front of goal.”
