AFC Bournemouth unveiled a new third kit today - and it's pink, in support of breast cancer care.

Five per cent of the proceeds from each sale of the third kit - produced in partnership with JD - will go to Breast Cancer Care.

“We believe the new third kit will be a huge hit with our supporters,” Cherries’ commercial director Rob Mitchell said.

“Having worked closely with JD, we have produced a strip which will hopefully match some eye catching performances on the road.

"We are also proud support Breast Cancer Care this season and look forward to raising money for a great cause."

The money raised from kit sales will go towards Breast Cancer Care’s vital support services, such as the charity’s helpline, online forum, information points in hospitals and face-to-face services for anyone facing breast cancer.

Alec Raven, head of community fundraising at the charity, said: “Every year in the UK, 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer. We want to be there for each and every one of them. That is why we’re so grateful to AFC Bournemouth for choosing to generously support Breast Cancer Care.

“The funds raised will help us make a huge difference to the lives of thousands of women waking up to the harsh reality of breast cancer every day. Thank you AFC Bournemouth.”

The kit is set to go on sale soon from the club store at Vitality Stadium and online at afcbdirect.co.uk. It will also be available from JD stores in Bournemouth and Boscombe.

The design features a one colour crest, as well as new shirt sponsor Mansion. In keeping with the home kit, the sponsor’s logo will not feature on junior sizes, or kits used by the club’s under-21s and Academy teams.

Cherries chief executive Neill Blake said there had been “a great deal of excitement around the reveal of our first Premier League kits.”

He added: “The club is now in front of a global audience and it’s a fantastic opportunity for the club and our supporters to show support for a worthy cause. We hope supporters love the shirt and help raise money for a good cause in the process.”
