EDDIE Howe insists there will be no envious glances towards the Premier League’s big spenders as he attempts to put the final touches to his Cherries squad.

The Vitality Stadium boss anticipates no imminent transfer news but admits he is in the market for further additions on top of the seven completed deals – including two season-long loans – so far.

Howe acted quickly following last season’s Championship title triumph, snapping up former loan star Artur Boruc, Adam Federici, Joshua King, Sylvain Distin and Tyrone Mings permanently, as well as Chelsea’s Christian Atsu and Chievo full-back Filippo Costa until the end of the season.

Providing a transfer update after Saturday’s friendly victory at Exeter, Howe told the Daily Echo: “We are still looking. It is not easy to get deals over the line and we will wait and see what the next few weeks bring.

“We are not close on anything currently but still actively working to see what we can do. There is no truth in the rumours circulating in the past couple of days and currently, we haven’t bid for anyone.”

And at the end of a week which saw Manchester City splash out a record fee for an English player – understood to be £49million – on Raheem Sterling, Howe remained philosophical over his bargaining position.

On cash-rich clubs, Howe added: “Good luck to them. Every club has their own aims and ambitions and go about things in their own way. I certainly bear no grudges over anyone spending money.

“We are in a totally different position to those clubs. Being new to the Premier League, we are going make that transition with a group of players that has done fantastically well for us over a long period of time with, hopefully, some quality additions.

“People have said it countless times but there are different divisions within the Premier League and we’re certainly in a different one to those with that kind of money.

“This season is going to be an eye opener on many levels for all of us but we can’t wait for it. It is a challenge we deserve on the back of our achievements and one we will go and attack.”

Meanwhile, Howe confirmed Cherries would field a mix of first-team and under-21 players in tonight’s friendly at phoenix club Salisbury (7.45pm).

“This our last full week of training without a game so we will be looking to push the lads on to more intense levels than they are already at,” he added.

“Maybe we will get one or two who have not played as much as they would have liked some action against Salisbury. It will be a mixed team.”

Admission is set at £8 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for children.
