CHERRIES boss Eddie Howe revealed a desire to further bolster his squad but insisted he would not be rushed into signings.

Howe has brought in Tyrone Mings, Sylvain Distin, Joshua King, Adam Federici and Artur Boruc on permanent deals this summer, while Christian Atsu has joined on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

And while pleased with the players at his disposal ahead of the club’s maiden Premier League campaign, Howe admitted he was still on the lookout for fresh faces.

He told the Daily Echo: “I’m happy and content with the squad but never satisfied. You never think it’s the end. From my perspective, you are always looking for something to help the team.

“I hope we can add further to the group. In my own mind we’re not done yet in terms of what we want to do and where we want to take the squad.

“We’re not going to say we’re finished with our recruitment but it all depends on finding the right player for the right price and whether you can get them.

“There won’t be huge numbers if we do recruit more players and they have got to be the right players.

If it’s a choice between rushing or making a bad decision, I’d rather do nothing.

“We will see how the rest of pre-season goes.”

Cherries returned to training on Saturday and Howe admitted he would rather bring in new faces sooner rather than later so that players could rapidly be integrated into the squad.

However, he warned he would not compromise on quality for the sake of rapid recruitment.

Howe continued: “We wanted to get players in for the start of pre-season but you never have everything your own way.

“It wasn’t the be-all and end-all from our point of view. It’s all about the quality of the player and if you have to wait, you have to wait.

“Ideally, you get the chance to work with them for four or five weeks before the season starts. Of course that’s ideal because you can integrate them quicker.

“I’m happy with all the players we’ve signed. It’s taken a lot of hard work to get them in and they will all have a big part to play for us. They have all got different strengths and attributes.

“One thing we looked at is the pace and strength of the squad and going into the Premier League, I felt that was an area we needed to look at and adjust and I think we’ve ticked those boxes.”

Cherries are due to fly to the United States on Wednesday for a pre-season training camp and are set to play their first warm-up fixture against Major League Soccer outfit Philadelphia Union on Tuesday, July 14.
