BOSS Eddie Howe believes Ryan Fraser’s stay at Ipswich will help the flying Scotsman “take his game to the next level”.

Winger Fraser has joined the Suffolk outfit on a season-long loan as part of the deal which saw Tyrone Mings move in the opposite direction.

Fraser, who joined Cherries in a £400,000 deal from Aberdeen in January 2013, made 21 appearances – including 15 from the bench – in the Championship last season.

The Scottish under-21 international will spend the whole 2015-16 campaign at Portman Road with the loan agreement having no provision for a recall.

Fraser, who has a year left on his current contract, has also opened talking with Cherries regarding a new deal.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Echo, Howe said: “Ryan is coming to a crucial part of his career and is at the stage now where I feel he needs regular football and a consistent run of games so hopefully Ipswich can provide that.

“With the quality of wide players we have at the club, I couldn’t make him any promises regarding game time so felt it would be best for his development to commit to a season-long loan with no recall.

“The decision has been made with his career in mind. Hopefully, when he comes back to us, he will be a lot better for the experience. I think he is an outstanding player now but probably need matches to take his game to the next level.”
