WALES midfielder Shaun MacDonald insists he is ready to play any part in his country’s crunch Euro 2016 qualifier with Belgium – no matter how small.

Cherries’ patriotic Welshman admits he is unlikely to start tonight’s clash at the Cardiff City Stadium (7.45pm) ahead of established stars Joe Allen, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ledley.

But having gained his second senior cap with a late cameo in Wales’s 3-0 triumph in Israel in March, the Swansea-born 26-year-old vowed give everything for the cause if selected.

MacDonald told the Daily Echo: “The starting team picks itself in many ways. The boys that have been here for quite a while and play every week in the Premier League will probably get the nod and I have no arguments with that.

“Whatever role I get to play for my country is an honour for me. As a nation, this is probably the best position we have put ourselves in to make history so just to be involved is a massive honour.

“When you get called up, I think you have to enjoy these occasions. It comes round once every couple of months and it is a nice change, plus you get to take a lot of good experiences into your club football.

“I came on and got a few minutes against Israel and you never know when you will get called upon in football. If my chance comes, I will be ready.”

Wales are level on points with their highly-rated visitors at the top of Group B and MacDonald reckons his team-mates will prove formidable opponents on the back of their strong start.

“Belgium’s squad is unbelievable and they are used to these occasions but I am sure with a full house of passionate Welsh fans roaring us on, our lads can thrive.

“The group has a great togetherness and I think we have showed that in the games we have played.

“We are lucky to have players who can win a game at any time and we have been brilliant defensively. Hopefully, that will continue and we will approach the match with confidence.”
