CHERRIES striker Yann Kermorgant has admitted to a childhood soft spot for Manchester United and one of the Red Devils' most famous sons.

While he may not have supported a Premier League side as a youngster, Kermorgant was an admirer of Sir Alex Ferguson's side, the dominant force in English football for much of the 1990s.

And the Frenchman revealed that his admiration for the Gallic flair of Eric Cantona had contributed to his liking for the Old Trafford club.

Kermorgant told the Daily Echo: "I've never been a big fan of one team, I just love football. But maybe I would say Manchester United when Eric Cantona played for them.

"They were the best club in England at that time and what Sir Alex Ferguson achieved there as a manager was very impressive, so I quite like Manchester United.

"I will look forward to Old Trafford but that is the same with quite a few places and of course they will all be big games for us next season."

Vannes-born Kermorgant made 42 appearances in all competitions for Cherries in their title-winning Championship season of 2014-15 and scored 17 goals.

The 33-year-old, who joined Cherries from Charlton in January last year, ended the campaign on a run of six goals in 10 games.
