MATT Ritchie has retained his place in the Scotland squad for next month’s clashes with Qatar and the Republic of Ireland.

Scotland are due to face Qatar in the Qatar Airways Cup at Hibernian's Easter Road base on Friday, June 5 (7.45pm).

Gordon Strachan’s men are then set to take on the Republic of Ireland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, June 13 (5pm).

The Cherries winger made his international debut for the Tartan Army against Northern Ireland in March having never previously visited Scotland.

Ritchie, whose father and grandparents are Scottish, delivered the corner from which Christophe Berra headed a late winner at Hampden Park.

Four days later, the former Swindon man started the 6-1 home victory over Gibraltar in Euro 2016 qualifying and was substituted for centre-back Gordon Greer at half-time.

Ritchie could potentially face Cherries team-mate Harry Arter on the international scene as the latter has been named in the Republic of Ireland long squad for the June 13 fixture.

Republic manager Martin O'Neill will shorten his squad ahead of assembly on June 1.
