CHERRIES were denied three points by Chris Maguire's penalty in the fifth minute of added time in a 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Dean Court. Here, we cover the decisive aspects.
THE UNPREDICTABLE TORTURE CONTINUES...
Well, who saw that coming?
Dour Wednesday go one up, Cherries rally to level, go down to 10 men, then go 2-1 up and let it slip to a penalty in the fifth minute of added time.
Forget the script, stick it on the bonfire. Eddie Howe is right, trying to call this promotion race would be folly.

CONTROVERSY FROM THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE... AGAIN
Callum Wilson’s penalty shout at 0-1, Lloyd Isgrove unpunished for kicking away the ball when on a booking, no second yellow for Jeremy Helan when he fouled Harry Arter, a harsh second booking for Simon Francis...
Plenty of replays to pour over but the consensus was that Paul Tierney did not cover himself in glory.
ULTIMATELY, CHERRIES GOT DRAGGED DOWN BY THE OWLS
As frustrating as some of the decisions were, Cherries got a little lost after a bright start and while Wednesday passed the ball, they did so at a slow tempo and took their time to restart play from the outset.
The game plan worked for the first 45 minutes and a well-taken goal gave the dour visitors their invite to sit deep.
MOMENT OF THE MATCH
The euphoria when Matt Ritchie’s ripsnorter almost burst the net felt like the decisive moment. The joy and relief was palpable.
MOAN OF THE MATCH
Refereeing inconsistency... again!
Some of the contentious calls will need a second look but the obvious one was not sending off Isgrove and then applying the letter of the law with Francis.
A flagrant lack of continuity.
