REPORTED Cherries loan target Chuba Akpom is unlikely to move to Dean Court ahead of today’s loan deadline, the Daily Echo understands.

The 19-year-old Arsenal striker, who is currently on international duty with England under-20s, was linked with Cherries by a national newspaper yesterday.

The Independent said Akpom would “choose on Thursday morning between Bournemouth, Norwich and Nottingham Forest as he prepares to go on loan to the Championship for the rest of the season”.

Forest boss Dougie Freedman is believed to have spoken to the teenager, who has been labelled the next Thierry Henry, and the City Ground is expected to be his likely destination.

A host of other Championship clubs have been linked with Akpom who lined up alongside Cherries defender Baily Cargill in England under-20s’ penalty shootout victory over Mexico at Barnet last night.

Akpom is understood to have visited Carrow Road for talks with Norwich City’s boss Alex Neil last week, while Derby, Middlesbrough and Ipswich are also rumoured to be keen on the highly-rated youngster who has made seven appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners.

Leicester City’s Wales under-21 international Tom Lawrence, who joined the Foxes from Manchester United in the summer, is also not thought to be a loan target for Cherries.
