CHERRIES drew 0-0 with Blackburn Rovers at Dean Court today. Here, we take an initial look at the crucial aspects.
THE ACCEPTANCE THAT IT HAD TO HAPPEN SOME TIME...
In an ideal world, Cherries would have netted in every game this season, which would almost definitely have been enough to beat Blackburn.
This was a timely reminder that the exception to the rule generally rears its ugly head at some stage.
Cherries created, as always, but had that afternoon where they could not find a way through.
A SENSE OF PERSPECTIVE...
Contrary to the vocal minority, this result was no disaster.
A chance missed with other results going Cherries’ way? Perhaps, but you had the sense that Cherries would have been comfortable had they taken the lead.
Dropping points after taking the lead has been a real problem for Cherries but even when the impressive Rudy Gestede was joined by Jordan Rhodes, the hosts’ solidarity was impressive.
When a rival boss finds the criticism of his opponents "ridiculous", maybe it's time to consider just where Cherries have come from.
HARRY ARTER'S PRESENCE IS KEY...
On a day where Cherries found themselves stifled, Arter was the one man who chanced his arm from time to time and tried something different.
Brought that edge and bite back to Cherries’ midfield.
MOMENT OF THE MATCH
Few high spots but purposeful move down the right ended with Marc Pugh’s snapshot being pushed away by Rovers keeper Jason Steele from point-blank range.
Fine save which set up the stopper for a good afternoon.
MOAN OF THE MATCH
Blackburn’s pedestrian pace.
Like so many lately, merely came to Dean Court with the intention to slow down the game.
Referee Simon Hooper, while fair in his decision making, allowed Rovers to do it by dallying here and there.
Generally frustrating for everyone and did nothing for the tempo of the game.
Frustratingly, Blackburn were afforded a little too much luxury in that respect which did not help matters.
