WINGER Marc Pugh urged Cherries to return to winning ways and insisted the mood in the Dean Court camp was “really positive”.

Pugh was on the scoresheet for Eddie Howe’s side as they suffered their first Championship defeat in more than a month at Brentford on Saturday.

The former Hereford man’s eighth league goal of the season proved in vain as Cherries missed the chance to return to the top of the table.

Cherries could get back on the victory trail tomorrow when they travel to Nottingham Forest (7.45pm) and Pugh has challenged his team-mates to put together a string of results.

Pugh told the Daily Echo: “We know we’re capable of going on a good run, we’ve proved that before.

“We’re going to a lovely stadium on Wednesday and we have a couple of home games coming up so we’re still feeling really positive.

“Teams in and around us are going to be playing each other and teams are going to be dropping points.

“I think whichever team goes on a good run will be there for the long haul.”

Forest are unbeaten in the league since boss Dougie Freedman took over from Stuart Pearce at the start of February.

Pugh, who grabbed a late leveller for Cherries in their 1-1 draw at the City Ground last term, added: “Forest had a good win against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday so it’s going to be a tough game.

“We got a point there last season but it’s never an easy place to go.

“Earlier this season, they beat us 2-1. We were brilliant on the night but could not take our chances.

“It’s 11 versus 11 and whoever performs on the day will come out on top and, hopefully, that’s us.”
