BOSS Eddie Howe admitted that deficiencies at both ends of the pitch had cost Cherries in their 3-1 defeat at promotion rivals Brentford.

Responding to questions posed by the Daily Echo, Howe said: “I thought we started the game well.

"Brentford scored from their first attack which, without having seen it again, looked a poor goal to concede.

“Whenever you go away from home and concede in the manner that we did, it becomes a more difficult assignment but we responded very well to that.

“We knocked at the door and created enough chances to have won two games but didn’t get that elusive equaliser.

“It’s unlike us to not have been more efficient in front of goal.

“The pleasing thing is that we are getting in those positions.

“Ultimately, the only criticism I would have – apart from the goals we conceded – was the way we chased the game in the last 10 minutes.”
